JOB SUMMARY:

The Global Technical Service Instructional System Designer reports to the Senior Manager, Technical Service Training. They are responsible for designing and developing instructional material for customer training courses that support company medical products. Additionally, this position will provide consultation and support services in instructional design, strategies, assessment, technology, and distributed learning for instructional development projects.

In addition, as the Learning Management System (LMS) subject matter expert, this specialist will be the responsible managing the project and delivering a consolidated Life Science technical training system for field service associates and our distributors.  This includes developing processes, as well as transferring training management and associated content from the existing application (C2C) to LMS.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Design:

  • Designs and produces learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation and multimedia to support training and educational needs.
  • Consults with Training Manager on instructional design and learning objectives.
  • Assists in the development of instructional strategies, course materials, assessment techniques, appropriate integration of instructional technologies and best practices.
  • Aids training associates in technology tools and methods, use of instructional software, and effective uses of media.
  • Researches and makes recommendations on educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies and multimedia hardware/software to support training and learning.
  • Designs, develops, and delivers workshops and training to associates in the use of instructional technologies and educational best practices.
  • Facilitates curriculum development sessions, documents findings, and writes reports.
  • Assist with the development of new hires Ensure all service communication literature is in compliance to BD Brand Identify and regulatory requirements in partnership with Marketing Communications and Regulatory departments

LMS:

  • Responsible for establishing and executing a Learning Management System (LMS) project to consolidate multiple technical training processes into one LMS instance.
  • Establish standard procedures and ensure traceability of all training records “on demand” (eg. classes completed, test results, certificates, instructors, dates).
  • Standardize and improve the LMS to publish clear monthly metrics and become an audit-ready application.
  • Create a process for becoming a certified instructor and steps to validation or recertify the process over time.
  • Create a process to allow an associate or manager to create a training path with potential future year horizon.
  • Create the capability for managers to register their associates interactively in LMS for classes and the associated prioritization process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Fluent in English--verbal and written.
  • Proven track record of establishing and launching LMS projects and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success for managing a new technology implementation.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction to create concise, effective communication materials.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to present the value of services.
  • Effective organization, planning and goal setting.
  • High level of skill with Microsoft Power Point, Word, Articulate, and other Microsoft Office programs and Adobe products.
  • Additionally, demonstrated proficiency using web page editors, graphic software, multimedia authoring tools, and basic HTML.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Requires a Bachelor’s degree, higher level desired, instructional design or instructional technology preferred
    • 5 or more years’ experience with instructional design and courseware development highly desired, preferably soft skills and product based.
    • 5 or more years of experience in LMS implementation and support LMS Technical Administration

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and reach.
    • Ability to view computer monitor and use keyboard for prolonged period
    • Ability to sit for prolonged period, handling, fingering, listening, near vision, mid range vision in connection with performing essential functions.
