About the role
As Assistant General Counsel - EMEA, you lead the Law Group’s partnership with the businesses, countries and functions in Central & Eastern Europe (“C&EE”). You manage and supervise the legal affairs of BD and its subsidiaries in C&EE, including, but not limited to, contracts and other commercial matters, litigation, corporate housekeeping, compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the Company’s operations, and the monitoring of relevant legislative and regulatory developments. You manage the BD Law Group attorney in Moscow and have general oversight of the work of external law firms.
We are looking for a leader who will develop a mutually supportive relationship with business leaders, supervise and guide litigation and conflict resolution, act as guarantor/mentor on policy and values issues, help ensure a compliance and ethics-based legal support environment as well as contribute to Company and Law Group initiatives.

- Focusing on BD’s customers, taking ownership of client relationships and work
Qualified in Germany, you bring strong experience as in-house counsel in international companies and deep expertise in business counselling and relevant legal practice areas. Ideally, you have experience in the medtech industry or in a regulated sector.
A strong people leader, you have a collaborative approach, an inclusive behaviour and a servant leadership approach. You are also an excellent communicator with integrity, honesty and a proven capacity to take stands and defend positions as well as lead others to do the same. Thanks to your highly developed eye for business, you take a strategic approach to problem solving, proactively identify risks and opportunities and strive for continuous improvement.
Other key attributes include:
- Experience of negotiating and drafting international commercial contracts
- Up-to-date knowledge of international trade and export control laws
- Experience of risk, issue, and organisational change
- Willingness to travel internationally to meet business requirements
- Proficiency in English and German. Knowledge of other languages an advantage.
