BD Plymouth is a state-of-the-art Manufacturing 27-acre site dedicated to our Specimen Management products. It is a fast-paced environment with 60 million products manufactured each week among 200 references.

The Manufacturing Director is responsible for all operational and security of our plant. You manage all phases of the Plymouth manufacturing operations to provide the highest quality products at competing price levels.

Reporting to the Senior Director Manufacturing, you coordinate all plant activities with special emphasis to ensure FDA compliances, ISO Certification and ensure that our policies and procedures meet UK specific & EU agencies directives (i.e.: EEOC, cGMP, OSHA, EPA, etc.).

You establish all SQDC&P along with ambitious cost objectives, capacity planning, attainment of production schedules, productivity and efficiency improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintenance of all buildings, facilities, grounds and equipment aligned with established company policies and government agency regulations.

• Development and management of annual budgets and financial performance.

• Periodic visits to customer locations to understand all product use and see opportunities to enhance our service and quality levels to the customer through improved manufacturing processes.

• Establish vendor improvement programs which will improve the quality, cost and service capability of vendors to the manufacturing facility.

• Ensure maximum utilization of assets including equipment, facility and work in process or finished goods inventory dollars to achieve the highest possible return on investment.

• Leading the planning and implementation of cost reduction programs, waste reduction, quality improvement, and productivity improvement programs together with R&D and Quality.

• Encouraging the understanding and use of new technologies geared to improving product quality or manufacturing efficiencies.

About you

We are looking for strong people leaders with proven industrial experience, including complete familiarity with operating policies and Corporate and Divisional service organisation. Experience in a similar environment (fast-paced delivering high volumes) will be essential for success in the role. We are open to candidates coming from other industries.
