(Sr.) Customer Project Manager Lab Automation - Nordics

Job Description Summary

The Customer Project Manager leads the cross-functional team and activities in installing new BD Lab Automation Systems (e.g. BD Kiestra, BD COR or BD Bioscience) at customer sites. The Customer Project Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the project from purchase order through successful completion of the handover to Lifecycle Management Phase and may also participate in the Sales Phase of a project.

A Customer Project Manager is measured on their ability to lead the team in achieving schedule, functionality, stability and performance goals of the project. Projects led by a Customer Project Manager can have varying degrees of complexity, usually including one or more aspects of hardware, software, and/or network as part of scope, and are typically more-dimensional, having complex boundaries that require in-depth lab industry knowledge.

Job Description

Further responsibilities are:

  • Indirectly supervising a cross functional team of typically 4-6 people from Application, Installation, Field Service, R&D and/or IT
  • Establishing relationships with key customers and stakeholders
  • Aligning and managing all cross-functional activities to deliver the product on time and on budget per contract while meeting agreed upon technical, operational, business and customer requirements
  • Leading successful project reviews and project risk management
  • Completing accurate and timely reporting
  • Taking care of the road map including planning, budget, customer specific arrangements
  • Consulting the customer regarding Lab Information Systems / IT Infrastructure and utilities (building interior, power connection, air, etc.)
  • Conducting technical and organizational programs implementation at clients using various methods (change management, etc.)
  • Taking the project through project closeout, including the transition of the system into normal business operations of Life Cycle Management processes


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field, for instance a Mechanical/Mechatronics/IT Engineer degree, or alternatively an MBA
  • Project Management certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience within project management and customer facing and/or people management experience
  • In-depth lab industry knowledge is an advantage, but technical interest is mandatory
  • Regulated environment of the medical device or pharmaceutical industry is a preferred
  • Fluency in English is a must, Swedish or another Scandinavian language is preferred
  • Due to the nature of this function is not an 8 to 5 weekday job, you must be willing and able to travel on a regular basis (up to 50%)

  • You strive towards teamwork and hold a genuine intention to work cooperatively with others, be part of a team and to work towards a commonly understood goal
  • You inhibit a high personal effectiveness, stress resistance as well as the ability to work cross-functionally within the project team and in a complex metric and cross business unit organization


  • This is a field-based position in the Nordics, and we prefer that you are based in Sweden.
